Guarang Patel and his wife Pratima decided it was finally time to renovate their entire deck. Their pressure-treated lumber deck had aged and weathered so there was a lot of rotted and cracked wood. After over six months of research, Guarang chose to work with Warehouse ’71.
“The color choices are great, and no one can beat the prices and quality of these products. The prices at other companies are almost double the prices I found here.”

The Hardest Part – Choosing a Product
“The hardest part about completing this project was making a decision on the product because whenever I visited this place, they had more options to choose from that were all high-quality.”
Guarang was not expecting there to be so many high-grade options. This project took almost a year to finish because every time he visited Warehouse ’71 there were more and more choices. Also, the pandemic really held things up. Everyone is doing renovations to their homes, so this has made lead times a lot longer.
“Due to this virus situation, the contractor I found was very busy, so it took a little bit longer than was I expecting.”
Guarang chose to use TimberTech® AZEK® Vintage boards in Cypress, and Deckorator’s Vista Deck boards in Sandalwood, along with Fascia in Sandalwood to complete this deck
“Both materials were in my price range and fit the vision I had, authentic wood look with natural-looking colors.”
The Renovation Process
Once the interior was ready, they moved in and started on the exterior. Amanda chose gray siding to contrast the warmer, natural tones in her interior.
First, Guarang took his deck apart completely and removed all the old wood. The decking and railing were in bad shape, but the structural parts of the deck were still in good condition, so he did not have to start from total scratch. He replaced his old, rotting wood deck boards on the upper level and stairs with TimberTech® AZEK® Vintage boards in the color Cypress. These boards are more durable and mold resistant than regular wood so he will not have to worry about maintaining it or having to completely renovate it again due to rot and wood damage. He also decided to add a built-in deck bench so that his outdoor living space can have plenty of seating areas for guests. He used the TimberTech® AZEK® Vintage boards for this as well. This is a great material to use for a seating area because it stays up to 30 degrees cooler than many competitive composite products.
For the lower level of the deck, he used Deckorator’s Vista Deck boards in Sandalwood. This gives the lower level a slightly different color than the upper level. Both levels have the authentic wood look Gaurang was looking for.

Their New Living Space

Guarang and Pratima are thrilled about their new outdoor living space. Now that they’ve breathed new life into their deck, they will finally be able to sit in their backyard and enjoy a beautiful spring day!
“My wife and I were getting tired of stepping on cracked wood and looking at chipped paint and would rarely sit in our backyard. Now that we’ve given our deck an upgrade, we are super excited to sit out there and enjoy spring weather!”

“The best part about working with Warehouse ‘71 is the friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous staff. I would definitely recommend this place, not 100% but 500%, because of the availability of materials with reasonable prices and excellent quality.”
